A bit about me: Vanessa (Osteopath)
Hey there! I’m Vanessa, and I joined the Bodyfix Team back in April 23 as a Sports Massage therapist. But that’s not where my journey ended – I actually went on to get a Master’s degree in Osteopathy from the International College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) in Epsom, Surrey.
I used to spend most of my time behind a desk in a corporate setup. But in 2013, I decided to break free and become a massage therapist. By July 2014, I proudly earned my ITEC level 4 Sports Massage therapist qualification from St Mary’s University, Twickenham.
Let me tell you, getting the chance to be more ‘hands-on’ and do something I genuinely love has been a total game-changer. Working in a clinic environment has given me such a fantastic appreciation for patient well-being, and it was a big reason why I went on to do a 4-year Osteopathic degree.
Before heading into Osteopathic Medicine, I spent 18 months at a local chiropractic clinic, which turned out to be a great experience. And guess what? Fate was on my side, a friend and qualified osteopath recommended me to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and All England Lawn and Tennis Club (AELTC). That’s how I got the chance to work at the WTA Classic Tournament and the Wimbledon Qualifying Tournament – such thrilling experiences!
This year, I’m absolutely over the moon to be back at Wimbledon. Working with professional tennis players has been a dream come true, and they totally get how manual therapy can boost their performance.
When I’m treating the players, I don’t care if they’re famous or TV stars – they’re just people to me. So, we have normal, everyday conversations while I give them the best treatment I can.
And let me tell you, when the Championships kick off, the energy is electric! The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is seriously impressive, and it adds to the excitement of it all.
Sure, the days at Wimbledon can be long, busy, and sometimes tiring, but you know what? It’s all worth it, and we have a ton of fun too!
By the way, if you’re into tennis yourself, you probably know all about common injuries like joint sprains, muscle strains, tennis elbow, and more. I don’t just treat tennis players, though – my focus is on people who love staying active and doing sports regularly. Swimmers, cyclists, runners, boxers, dancers, golfers, cricketers, weight lifters, gym-goers – you name it!
So, now I’m super excited to bring all my skills to the table as a qualified osteopath at the Bodyfix Clinic, especially after working as a massage therapist there for several months. I can’t wait to make a real difference in people’s lives and help them feel fantastic!
