Eleanor demonstrating an Osteopathic Lymphatic drainage technique.

My name is Eleanor and I am an Osteopath at Bodyfix Clinic. I started here in September 2022 and have been doing a number of CPD courses since that time.  As Osteopaths we are required to complete 90 hours of extra training over a 3-year period.  This is called continuing professional development or CPD.  I have a keen interest in Women’s health and treating during pregnancy. I have been focusing my CPD training around those areas.

In January 2023 I completed CPD about Osteopathic Lymphatic drainage techniques.  If you haven’t heard of the lymphatic system before, you can think of it as tiny tubes and nodes that network throughout the body.  The system has a major role in immunity and removal of waste products.

Osteopathic Lymphatic drainage can help with a number of conditions including:

Reducing inflammation

Increasing the circulation of blood and lymph

Improving the immune system

Reducing Sinusitis symptoms.

What is it?

It is a hands on, manual therapy that works on 2 levels.  Firstly, I aim for ‘clearance’ of the ducts.  This will include rhythmic, harmonic type techniques to the chest, shoulders and muscles of the neck.  Next I will perform light compression to work on the superficial lymph vessels and connective tissue.  Sessions usually last between 30 to 45 minutes and is usually pain free.

Who can benefit from it?

People with Seasonal Swelling

Those with swollen hands or wrists during pregnancy.

Those people who develop swelling due to scarring.

Desk based or immobile people with ankle swelling.

Those with ankle swelling after long flights

Those with swelling from acute/ sub-acute sports injuries.

People with a ‘sluggish immune system’

Those with regular Sinusitis.

If you would like to book an appointment, you can call reception on 02083940393 or book here.  If you have any further questions about Osteopathic Lymphatic drainage you can book a free 15 minute Discovery session with me.

**Please note that O.L.D. cannot be used for treatment of clinical lymphedema.
