What is Traditional Chinese Acupuncture?
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It uses very fine, single-use sterile needles placed at specific points on the body to support the body’s natural balance and healing processes.
At Bodyfix Clinic in Stoneleigh, Epsom, Taegyun Kim takes a whole-person approach.
Treatment looks at how physical symptoms, energy, lifestyle, sleep, and diet are connected, rather than focusing on one isolated complaint.
What is Constitutional Acupuncture?
Constitutional Acupuncture (also known as Eight Constitution Medicine) is a Korean approach that identifies a person’s unique constitutional type, mainly through careful pulse diagnosis. It works on the principle that people can be classified into eight different constitutional types, each with its own characteristics and patterns of health.
Rather than using the same treatment approach for everyone, the practitioner selects acupuncture points according to the individual's constitutional type, aiming to support the body's natural balance and wellbeing.
It's a more personalised approach to acupuncture, although the scientific evidence supporting its constitutional classifications and specific benefits remains limited.
Treatment and dietary advice are then tailored specifically to that constitution to help restore balance.

What to expect on your first visit
Your first appointment includes a full consultation before any treatment begins. Taegyun will ask about your current symptoms as well as your wider health history, lifestyle, sleep, and diet. He will also carry out a traditional assessment, which may include pulse and tongue diagnosis.
Once he has a clear picture, he will explain his findings and agree a treatment plan with you. Treatment itself is usually relaxing and is carried out in a calm, private setting. Most people feel comfortable during and after the session.
If acupuncture is not the most suitable approach for you at that time, Taegyun will discuss alternatives or refer you to another practitioner within the clinic where appropriate.
